ABOUT

Sydney-based metal act Antonamasia have been captivating audiences with their trademark songwriting and high-energy live performances for over 20 years. Cassie Monkerud (vocals), Chris King (guitar), Andrew ‘Baz’ Barrington (bass), Sam Monkerud (drums/vocals) and Justin Gonzales (keyboards/vocals) continue to stagger audiences with their engaging blend of crushing rhythms, evocative arrangements and anthemic melodies.

Shortly after wrapping production on their 2006 debut Keeping Nothing, Antonamasia signed with esteemed metal/hard rock label Faultline Records, helmed by 2-time ARIA nominated producer dw Norton (Superheist, Daysend, Alchemist). The highly anticipated release quickly elevated the band within the Australian music scene, with immediate attention from numerous terrestrial and online radio stations, iconic publications including Drum Media, The Music and Blunt Magazine, support spots for 10 Years (USA), Leaves Eyes (Germany) and I Killed The Prom Queen, and earning them a prestigious advertising spot for the last ever Metal for the Brain festival.

A vocal force of "sheer damn power", Cassie delivers intricate stories of introspection and the struggle that can exist between the internal and external worlds. The brutally heart-wrenching overtones from the rest of the band provide the perfect backdrop to Cassie's soaring melodies as they pour their easily identifiable brand of beauty and power into each story, and transfer it to the stage in their frenzied chaos of emotion and energy that constantly leaves audiences wanting more.

Years after their first emergence, Antonamasia's original line up has returned to the scene with new music. The hard hitting "End Oblivion" and the epic follow-up "Kinesis" (which also saw the band co-produce their first-ever music video with acclaimed director Chris Elder of Haus Party) that was released to a sold out room at Sydney's Factory Theatre. Antonamasia are poised to take 2023 by storm with the release of their hugely anticipated follow up to 2006’s Keeping Nothing, and the 5-piece are ready to once again captivate every stage they take.
